Position Overview:

We’re seeking a creative and detail-oriented Product Developer – Toys with a focus on fun and novelty. As the Product Developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing innovative toy concepts to life, ensuring they are easily reproducible in manufacturing and meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Whether they feature LEDs, batteries, or other functions, your toy designs will delight children and enrich their play experiences.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and develop new concepts for impulse, licensed, and cost-competitive toy products.

Utilize your retail customer experience to deliver products that resonate with US consumers and meet the standards of major retailers such as TARGET and Dollar General.

Translate conceptual toy ideas into tangible designs for a wide range of toys, including but not limited to novelty, impulse, action figures, interactive gadgets, unique puzzles, and entertaining games that are both engaging and easily reproducible in manufacturing.

Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to select appropriate materials and production methods, ensuring efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes.

Incorporate features such as LEDs, batteries, or other functions as appropriate to enhance the novelty and play value of the toys.

Conduct thorough market research and trend analysis to identify emerging themes and design opportunities in the cost-competitive toy industry.

Create detailed product specifications and prototypes to communicate design concepts and features to internal teams and external partners.

Work closely with QTOP engineering and manufacturing teams to provide fully developed product files with specifications, ensuring seamless transition from design to production.

Oversee the development process from concept to production, ensuring that toy designs meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Curate a comprehensive portfolio showcasing your expertise in developing toys that capture children’s imaginations and promote creative play.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, or related field.

Proven experience (2+ years) as a Product Developer or similar role, with a focus on toy development or related consumer goods.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for injection, blow mold, vacuum-formed plastics, and similar materials.

Familiarity with safety regulations and standards for children’s toys, including ASTM and CPSIA and CPSC requirements.

Excellent project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Detail-oriented approach and commitment to ensuring high-quality, innovative toy designs.

Passion for design, creativity, and staying abreast of industry trends in toy development and child psychology.
