Position Overview:

We’re seeking a creative and detail-oriented Product Designer – Toys with a focus on fun and novelty. As the Product Designer, you’ll play a key role in conceptualizing and creating toys that captivate children’s imaginations while being easily reproducible in manufacturing. Whether they feature LEDs, batteries, or other functions, your designs will bring joy and excitement to children’s playtime.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand design requirements and objectives for impulse, licensed, and novelty toy products.

Utilize your retail customer experience to tailor designs that resonate with US consumers and meet the standards of major retailers such as TARGET and Dollar General.

Conceptualize and develop creative designs for a wide range of toys, including but not limited to novelty, impulse, action figures, interactive gadgets, unique puzzles, and entertaining games.

Ensure that toy designs are easily reproducible in manufacturing, utilizing injection, blow mold, vacuum-formed plastics, and similar age-appropriate materials.

Incorporate features such as LEDs, batteries, or other functions as appropriate to enhance the novelty and play value of the toys.

Conduct thorough market research and trend analysis to identify emerging themes and design opportunities in the cost-competitive toy industry.

Create detailed product mock-ups and prototypes from collaboration with the entire QTOP team of engineers, technicians, production staff, marketing, and licensors to showcase design concepts and features, ensuring they meet quality standards and brand guidelines.

Curate a comprehensive portfolio showcasing your expertise in designing toys that capture children’s imaginations and promote play-based learning.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or related field.

Proven experience (2+ years) as a Product Designer, with a focus on toys or related consumer goods.

Strong background in engaging with retail customers in the US market, particularly with major retailers like TARGET, Dollar General, etc.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for injection, blow mold, vacuum-formed plastics, and similar materials.

Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino).

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Detail-oriented approach and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Passion for design, creativity, and staying abreast of industry trends in toy development and child psychology.
